(1) Calculation of purchase volume index
The purchase volume index was calculated by indexing the volume of individual items that are broken down using 1987 as the basis, weighting that with the 1987 paid value and computing the weighted average. Taking clothing as an example, the purchase volume index for all the clothing was calculated by indexing the purchase volume of individual items (pants, skirt, etc.) and computing the weighted average with the paid value.
(2) Calculation of purchase price index
The purchase price index was calculated by dividing the paid value index (indexation with 1987 as the basis) by the purchase volume index.
