14 Some trading companies are seen having started to make adjustment in the direction of gradually registering term-contracted workers as permanent employees for people scheduled to enter the company in 2007 (Weekly Economist, issue of March 14, 2006). Japan Institute of Personnel Administration, an affiliated organization of the National Personnel Authority, conducted a survey on 210 companies listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in October 2006, and the results showed that a majority of major companies had set up the mechanism of registering non-regular employees such as term-contracted and part-time workers as permanent employees.
