2 The ratio of part-time workers in the Monthly Labor Survey is the percentage of regular employees accounted for by part-time workers. Regular employees are those who fall under either of the following cases: (1) persons who are hired with no determined duration or for a determined duration longer than one month, and (2) among persons hired on a daily basis for a duration not exceeding one month, those who had been hired for at least 18 days during the two months prior to the survey period. Part-time workers are those who fall under either of the following cases among regular employees: (1) persons whose daily scheduled working hours are shorter than regular employees, and (2) persons whose daily scheduled working hours are the same as in the case of regular employees but who work for fewer weekdays than regular employees.
