26 Unlike the case of tourists from abroad, projections using the gravity model are impossible for domestic tourists because there is no cross-data between the tourists' place of origin and their destination. Therefore, a simplified method of projecting the number of tourists to each region using its population and distance from Tokyo has been used. Furthermore, there is no consistency in the data on the number of tourists that allows an accurate comparison of prefectures to begin with, so it is necessary to use the projections and interpret them with some caution.
