(64) The ministries and agencies exchanged views with the Cabinet Office with regard to policy goals, evaluation method, flexible execution of budget, etc. and made budget requests for projects that are appropriate as model projects (the budget requests for fiscal 2004 amount to 78.4 billion yen). The 10 model projects for the nine ministries and agencies have made budget requests are as follows. (1) The Financial Services Agency (Further improvement of the electronic disclosure system concerning financial statements, etc.), (2) The Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications (Project to enhance comprehensive one-stop services), (3) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Promotion of voter registration for Japanese living abroad), (4) The Ministry of Finance (Electronic tax return and tax payment system), (5) The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Demonstration projects for collective disposal and recycling of general and industrial waste and biomass), (6) The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (Trend surveys on outbreak of infectious diseases), (7) The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (Model project to utilize bio-plastics), (8) The Ministry of Economic, Trade and Industry (E-government-related project, and establishment of patent handling system), (9) The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Construction of the basic system to enhance maritime safety, Computerization of seaman's certificates, etc.)
