(50) In FY 2000, about 4.5 trillion yen was likely to have been gained as additional tax revenue with the national and local governments combined. Although huge amounts of postal savings continued to mature in FY 2001, the additional tax revenue declined to about 3.7 trillion yen, and is likely to have dropped further in FY 2002.
