(33) The United States has seen a growing number of "free agents," who now reportedly account for a quarter of working population. Free agents are people who work independently while belonging to no organization. They are divided into three groups--freelance workers (16.5 million), temporary staffs (3.5 million) and mini-entrepreneurs (13 million).
