(55) As for Preliminary Quarterly GDP (QE), a new estimation method was introduced starting with the first preliminary estimates for the April-June quarter of 2002 and, as a result, supply-side statistics, such as the Current Survey of Industrial Production, have come to be widely used in estimating private consumption, which had been mainly estimated based on demand-side statistics like the Family Income and Expenditure Survey.
