Efforts to monitor and review Well-being

Survey on Satisfaction and Quality of Life

The Survey on Satisfaction and Quality of Life is designed to provide a comprehensive picture of the structure of Japan’s economy and society from the perspective of people’s satisfaction and well-being, with the intent to serve as a reference for policy management. This survey measures life satisfaction — a subjective indicator where respondents rate their satisfaction on a scale of 0 to 10 points— along with related factors such as work and family circumstances and living conditions.
The Well-being Dashboard, the set of indicators on satisfaction and quality of life, presents an overview of various aspects of people’s lives based on statistical data.

The Inter-Ministerial Coordination on Well-being

We convene the Inter-Ministerial Coordination Meeting on Well-being to facilitate information sharing, strengthen coordination, and disseminate good practices to promote well-being related policy measures in the government. The meeting also compiles key performance indicators in basic policies, policy measures and budgets related to well-being across the relevant ministries and agencies.
