12 Figures used for Japan and the U.S. are from 2000 and 2002, respectively. The weight of manufacturing industries in GDP has long been comparatively high for Japan compared with other major industrialized countries (20.0% in 2000). In the US, by contrast, the figure was low (12.7% in 2003).
