(101) According to an estimate made by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the national medical care expenditure, which stood at about 30 trillion yen (of which about 11 trillion yen was medical expenditure for elderly people) in fiscal 2000, is expected to increase to 42 trillion yen (15 trillion yen) in fiscal 2010 and to 70 trillion yen (34 trillion yen) in fiscal 2025.
